A Friar team losing at URI Saturday by the score 86-82 didn’t surprise that many people given that the Rams were a home favorite with more experience. What was surprising was that Providence had a sixteen point lead early in the second half before ultimately coming up short. Full Story

A season in which Providence College won 19 games, finished in the top half of the Big East with ten wins, grabbed a win in the Big East Tournament, defeated the number one team in the nation, and stayed in the NCAA Tournament bubble talk until the end. The NIT has remade itself since being taken over by the NCAA, and Providence finds itself making its 18th appearance in the venerable tourney and its first postseason appearance in two years. The Friars managed to power past suddenly inspired Depaul down the stretch in the 2nd round of the tournament, but were overmatched in a loss versus #1 seed Louisville in the quarter finals.
