This was a tough road loss for the Friars Friday night at the Agganis Arena in Boston. Sophomore Chris Higgins scored the lone goal of the game as the B.U. Terriers handed the Friars thier 8th loss of the year. After a lackluster first period, the Friars controlled the second period, outshooting the Terriers 11-4. However, senior goaltender John Curry was again a nemisis for the Friars. He made several big saves in the period, including stopping Tony Zancanaro on a short-handed breakaway. Curry has seven career shutout and three of them have come against the Friars. Providence College hurt themselves with several key penalties, including a five minute major against Tony Zancanaro in the third period. This was another strong game for defenseman Mark Fayne. The freshman continues to impress at both ends of the ice. His ability to work the point in the offensive end is one of his strengths. Tyler Sims played his second strong game in a row. He did not leave many rebounds and seemed to be getting a good read on the puck. Boston University was not that impressive offensively. Their top line of Chris Higgins, Kenny Roache and Matt Gilroy was held in check by the Friars. The Friars will attempt to regroup now as they are now off until November 24th when they take on Umass-Lowell at Schneider Arena, a 7:00 p.m. start. |
