Syracuse didn't have to look very far for their second commitment of the 2013 class. The Orange added local Rochester (NY) product Chinonso Obokoh to their class as he announced his decision on Monday. The 3-star center was excited about the choice.
"I think it's about time," Obokoh said. "It's been a long time with this, the past two years now. I just think it's the right time.
"I would say that I felt at home at Syracuse. Just everything when I got there. It was all positive. The coaches and the players. It felt right."
Obokoh told head coach Jim Boeheim of his decision. He
believes Boeheim was happy to hear his choice.
"Yeah I told him," the athletic big man said. "They were happy about it. I could tell. I know they're happy about it."
His decision comes on the heels of his official visit to Syracuse over this past weekend for midnight madness. That visit was the final straw to help him make his selection.
Part of the reason he chose to wear Orange was feeling
like the staff will help make him the best player he can be.
"The thing I'm hopeful for is to go in there and work hard," Obokoh explained. "I'm looking forward to playing for Jim Boeheim and Mike Hopkins.
"They can definitely make me better. That's the whole point. I believe in their system. They can make me better."
Obokoh is the second commitment for Syracuse in the 2013 class. He joins 5-star point guard Tyler Ennis. Obokoh selected Syracuse over Texas, Villanova, James Madison, and Temple.
