Facey's Recruitment Blowing Up

INDIANAPOLIS, In. -- 2013 PF Kentan Facey's recruitment has blown up in recent weeks. He talked to A10Report.com about his new offers and who is on him the hardest.

iNDIANAPOLIS, In. -- 2013 power forward Kentan Facey has picked up his play in recent weeks, and in turn, he's also garnered significant attention from high major coaches.

After a strong performance at the LeBron James Skills Academy, the six-foot-eight native of Jamaica came out and duplicated his showing at the Adidas Invitational.

"I just think I'm competing and working hard," Facey told A10Report.com. "My team was down a couple times and I had to step it up."

One of the most athletic players on the circuit, Facey is eager to show off his full repertoire throughout July.

"I'm helping out my team through rebounding and shot blocking," Facey said. "Defensively, I'm basically the anchor for the team right now. Also, getting into transition and getting easy buckets."

His offer sheet is incredibly impressive at this point, too.

"Louisville, UCLA, Memphis, Duquesne, Dayton, Xavier, Saint Louis," he said of who has offered this summer. "There are schools like Saint John's and UConn before that. Pittsburgh and Providence, too."

He's got one school coming at him the hardest at this point.

"Right now, Providence is probably the leader as far as recruiting goes," he said. "I hear from them a lot, especially Coach [Ed] Cooley. As far as interest, I'm still kind of wide open. I'm going to try to narrow it down after the July period."

"As far as the conference, I'm not too sure," he said. "I'm just basically getting used to the whole system here after coming from Jamaica."

Facey did, however, say he knows that the four Atlantic 10 schools who have extended offers are all good academic schools.

One of his Rens teammates, Terrence Samuel, has expressed interest about playing together at the next level, because they've got a very similar offer list. UConn is one school that Samuel has talked about on a number of occasions, but Facey says it won't be a package deal.

In closing, what's it going to take to reel in this ultra-athletic big?

"I'm looking for a school that has a really good engineering program," he said. "A school that gets players ready for the next level, because I'm definitely shooting for that after college. . .A good coaching staff with a good resume."
